Eric T. Ikeda, OD, FCOVD, DPNAP
Dr. Eric T. Ikeda has been in private practice in Bellflower since 1991. He earned his Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry from the University of California in Riverside in 1982 and completed his Doctor of Optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry in 1986. Dr. Ikeda became a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD) in 1992. He obtained his Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) certification in 1996 and completed Levels 1 and 2 of the Clinical Skills Building Program of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. He was inducted into the National Academies of Practice (Optometry Academy) in 2006.
Besides providing primary family vision care, Dr. Ikeda provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of both children and adults with developmental disabilities and acquired visual deficits. He is currently on clinical staff at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center (Downey) and is director of the Neuro-Optometry Clinic at Casa Colina Rehabilitation Hospital (Pomona). He serves as a consultant for Winways Transitional Living Center in Orange, Care Meridian, Village Healthcare Centers and the Transitional Rehabilitation Services of Long Beach. Dr. Ikeda also consults with several local school districts for children with visually-related learning disabilities and children with special needs (autism, etc.). Dr. Ikeda is past-president for the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, International. He has also lectured for American Society of Neurorehabilitation, American Occupational Therapy Association, Rancho Los Amigos Hospital and the NORA annual conference, and has provided numerous workshops, and in-services. He is past president of the San Gabriel Valley Optometric Society and had served on the Rio Hondo Optometric Society board. He currently serves as Director Trustee for the Optometric Extension Program Foundation.
Dr. Ikeda is active in community service. He is past president of the Bellflower Noon Lions Club and remains active in all its functions. He currently serves as chairman of the Cerritos College Foundation. Dr. Ikeda had served on the Bellflower Chamber of Commerce board and is past president for Family Service of Long Beach. He is currently a board member of the Bellflower Somerset Mutual Water Company. He continues to participate in his church, recently serving as camp director of the Pacific Coast Japanese Free Methodist Conference family camp. He enjoys serving as assistant Scoutmaster with his son’s Boy Scout Troop 1814, especially after having earned the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth. Dr. Ikeda enjoys fresh water and deep-sea fishing and other outings and golfing with his family and friends.
Sarah E. Wolff, OD
Dr. Sarah E. Wolff joined Optometric Vision Care Associates, Inc. in 2009. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences, with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior, from the University of California in Davis in 2001. After working for three years at the Center for Biostabilization she enrolled at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO). She graduated from SCCO in 2008 with her Doctor of Optometry degree Magna Cum Laude. After graduating she completed a one-year residency program in Low Vision at the Center for the Partially Sighted, located in West Los Angeles and Tarzana.
As well as providing primary vision care to patients of all ages, Dr. Wolff specializes in Low Vision, Neuro-Optometry and Ocular Disease, including Glaucoma. She also works with Dr. Ikeda as a clinical staff member at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey. She has spoken at various senior and rehabilitation facilities about Low Vision and enjoys teaching the community about the numerous treatment options that aid people with limited vision.
Dr. Wolff is currently President of the Rio Hondo Optometric Society, as well as a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association.
Dr. Wolff enjoys baking, knitting, attending music and sporting events, and entertaining her friends and family.
Joseph Lao O.D.
Dr. Joseph Lao joined Optometric Vision Care Associates in 2013. He earned his Bachelor of Sciences Degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Dr. Lao graduated Western University of Health Sciences: College of Optometry in May 2013. He has completed internships at various locations such as: the special populations and vision therapy focused Alderwood Vision Care Therapy Center in Alderwood, WA; Ernest Childers Veteran Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Tulsa, OK; The Villages Veterans Affairs Hospital in Villages, FL; and the Lyons/East Orange Veteran Affairs Outpatient Hospital in Lyons, NJ.
Dr. Lao was presented with the College of Optometerists in Vision Development Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy by Western University in May 2013. He has participated in community vision projects such as Angels for Sight, Lion's Club Vision screenings, CareNOWLA, and the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) mission trip to villages in Peru. Dr. Lao is passionate about vision therapy and neuro-optometric rehabilitation.
Dr. Lao served as the Curriculum Representative for the inaugural class for the Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry from 2009-2012 and serves as the American Public Health Association Liason for Western University of Health Sciences from 2010-2011.
